Quilts evoke comfort and tradition in craft. I used this timeless pattern as a template for painting with ink from fugitive pigments nettles, avocado skins and black tea with the intention they might change or fade with time. The select application of color through positive and negative shapes from the two stencils, allows the patterns to incidentally emerge.
